About the INstitute for female pelvic medicine
The Institute for Female Pelvic Medicine, a division of
Generations ObGyn, is a national leader in treating
women’s health problems. We provide convenient
access to advanced care for conditions in female urinary
and pelvic floor health such as:
Our services include state-of-the-art testing; conservative treatments for problems involving muscles that help support your uterus, vagina, bladder and other organs; bladder surgery and instillation therapy; reconstruction of the pelvis; and surgery for urinary incontinence.
Jeffrey R. Dell, M.D., is medical director of the Institute for Female Pelvic Medicine. He is one of the region’s leading experts in interstitial cystitis, a painful bladder condition. Dr. Dell also has published scientific papers in medical journals and conducts research related to reconstructive pelvic surgery and urogynecology.
The development of the Institute with Dr. Jeffrey R. Dell as Medical Director is a result of having a place for women to obtain the most advanced treatments for urinary incontinence, prolapse, pelvic pain and pelvic disorders. Prior to this, women who had stress urinary problems were referred to urologists for treatment. For example, women would see their gyn physician for hysterectomy and the urologist for the stress urinary incontinence. According to surveys, one-third of all women have suffered some type of birthing injury, including urinary or fecal incontinence, pelvic pain, sagging pelvic organs with one in nine requiring surgery to correct damages from childbirth.
Research indicates solid industry support for a new subspecialty: female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Dell is a subspecialist who is capable of providing all the consultation and management of women with complex benign pelvic conditions or urinary tract disorders with pelvic floor dysfunction.
The Institute serves the community by setting the standard for excellence in healthcare for women with urogynecologic and pelvic floor problems. The range of problems include urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, pelvic organ prolapse, including enterocele, rectocele, and cystocele, interstitial cystitis and hematuria.
